THE LOCATION

AMANSALA RESORT

Aman:peace / Sala:waters

Named in Sanskrit after Tulum's peaceful crystal-clear waters, Amansala is one of Tulum's most iconic beachfront eco-chic boutique hotels. It is an established, retreat-specific resort that was founded on the belief that a vacation is best when you return home feeling better than when you left.  The resort's design and atmosphere reflect the wabi-sabi philosophy, using natural materials and organic shapes. The rustic, weathered look of the buildings, the unpolished wood, and the hand-crafted details all contribute to a sense of style and authenticity. The resort fosters a community atmosphere where guests can bond over shared experiences, from communal dining to yoga and pilates classes in the dedicated yoga shala spaces. Amansala has laid-back wabi-sabi vibes and is surrounded by white sandy beaches, lush jungle, hidden cenotes, and local culture.

“One of the best places in the world to host a retreat and definitely the best place in Tulum.”

About Us

ABOUT US

Nat and Jane become friends through a shared love of movement and their fascination with how the body organizes. They recognized in the other a kindred spirit with matching tendencies to get extremely excited when learning new things about how humans function, and just how complex and nuanced we are. They are body nerds, movement nerds and they both love to laugh and play! As they dig into their 40s they are leaning into joy and the things that light them up! The Connecting to Joy Retreat was borne of a mutual desire to curate a space where like-minded humans could come together to share in their gratitude for a body that moves, the kiss of the sun, feel of the sand, the saltiness of the ocean, as well as lots of silliness, prioritizing sleep, and leaning into movement that asks for time, presence, kindness, curiosity and the pure joy of moving.

Come join us, it’s going to be fun!

JANE OSBORNE

Jane

Jane is a movement enthusiast and danced professionally in Vancouver for over a decade. As a former dance artist and a hypermobile human, Jane has a fair bit of first-hand experience with injury, pain and dysfunction in the body. Pilates has been a practice that she comes back to time and again, to help repattern, integrate, and heal.

Jane has been practicing Pilates on and off for over 25 years and she’s still not bored. She holds 2 comprehensive teaching certifications, one through PhysicalMind (Contemporary) and the second through Pilates from the Center (Classical). She holds a BFA in dance from SFU and is a certified level 1 Hypopressives teacher. She has completed additional workshops and courses in pre/post-natal Pilates, Pilates for rehabilitation, Yamuna ball rolling, Franklin Method, and myofascial slings through Anatomy Trains in Motion.

As a teacher, she offers the culmination of a life in dance, having spent 35 years immersed in thinking, talking and embodying movement through that lens. She has spent thousands of hours studying and practicing Pilates, and her continued learning includes building a deeper understanding of fascia, biomechanics, and the nervous system. The teachers and practitioners whose support has been the most meaningful to Jane, have been humble, endlessly curious and authentically themselves. She strives to stay as present, open and honest as they are.

Jane is the owner of Tiny Goat Pilates & Movement, a name she chose because it aligns with her teaching philosophy: that just like tiny goats, we were born to express ourselves through joyful movement. She believes in curiosity and that hard work can feel delicious, and playful. Jane knows firsthand that a willingness to be awkward, unsure and to fail, is all part of learning. These attributes make us exquisitely human and capable of so much more than we often give ourselves credit for.

These days Jane is stoked on gardening, biking, hanging with her furry roommates, learning vertical dance, and generally taking in beauty outside and inside.

Revelstoke locals can find Jane teaching Mat Pilates at Achemy Studio at 1300 Douglas Street on Friday mornings at 9:30am and Reformer at Ludica Movement Therapy at 113 Second Street East, please feel free to check their schedule for class times and more details.

NAT SPITTAL

Nat

Yoga is a living practice for Nat, offering a continuous source of strength and perspective across the seasons of her life.

Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Nat now calls Revelstoke, British Columbia home, where she founded Zendrift to offer a premium yoga service tailored to the luxury holiday experience. Through this, she shares her love of yoga by passing on the eclectic teachings that have inspired her and raised her awareness.

Her love of yoga was solidified through a regular practice with her favourite teacher, Wendy Wesson, whose seamless and inspiring classes were transformative in the best possible way—changing her life from the inside out.

Fascinated by yoga’s ability to raise one’s awareness and create positive change, Nat dived deeper, studying ACT psychotherapy to better understand applied mindfulness and a framework for values-based living. She also explored the anatomy of myofascial meridians and how fascial fitness is integrated into yoga. Over time, she immersed herself in a wide range of classes, immersions, and workshops, developing a broad and discerning approach to the practice.

She completed her initial teacher training with Tracey Rohan Irwin, whose studies included extensive time with Pattabhi Jois and B. K. S. Iyengar, and who passed on the intricacies of alignment and strong foundational principles. She has since completed a Prenatal Yoga Teaching Certification and a 500-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Kosta Miachin, deepening her understanding of yoga philosophy, advanced asana, pranayama, and bandhas as an energetic system for personal evolution.

Nat’s classes integrate the teachings that have most shaped her. Her sequencing is designed to make sense in the body and to be deeply felt, guiding students through intentional activation and release. She shares principles of alignment to help students get more out of their practice and explore the balance between strength and surrender—leaving them with a sense of having worked through the whole system, where the body feels more open, the mind more settled in sensation, and there is space to arrive in a more grounded, aware state.

Revelstoke locals can find Nat teaching at Alchemy Studio at 1300 Douglas Street on Wednesday's at 5:30pm.
